Freakin' Sweet Review

FG FREAKIN' SWEET COLLECTION IS A MUST-WATCH

Hey everyone. I just finished watching the Family Guy Freakin' Sweet Collection. It's a collection of Seth MacFarlane's five favorite episodes. The collection includes When You Wish Upon a Weinstein, Road to Rhode Island, To Love and Die in Dixie, I Am Peter, Hear me Roar, and Lethal Weapons. The 1-disc DVD set also has commentaries for Road to Rhode Island (with Brian and Stewie), To Love and Die in Dixie (with Seth, Dan Palladino, Steve Callaghan, Danny Smith, and Mike Henry), I am Peter, Hear me Roar (with Seth, Chris Sheridan, Alex Borstein, and Craig Hoffman), and Lethal Weapons (with Seth, Chris Sheridan, Garrett Donovan, and Steve Callaghan), and also the Pilot of American Dad, and Seth talking about American Dad and Family Guy Season 4.

The commentaries are great, but they were recorded before the announcement that the show was coming back (they hinted several times about it), which leads me to believe that they were supposed to be on the original DVDs but were cut by FOX. These are also probably the same ones on the UK "Family Guy Uncovered" DVD. I'm disappointed that there wasn't a commentary for the Weinstein episode, but the fact that the other ones was most likely for the original DVD explains it. The American Dad pilot is good, it's nice to see it in DVD quality. There are also some added scenes from the leaked pilot most of us have already seen (just some scene extensions, only a minute or so extra).

Seth's two interviews are probably the best part of the DVD, with Seth explaining some things in detail. The American Dad one doesn't really tell us anything we don't already know, but there are some good visuals, and hearing Seth explain it is pretty cool. The first half of the Season 4 talk is about Seth's 5 favorite episodes, which he explains in great detail.

SETH'S 5 FAVORITE EPISODES
5.Lethal Weapons
4.I am Peter, Hear Me Roar
3.To Love and Die in Dixie
2.Road to Rhode Island
1.When You Wish Upon a Weinstein

The second half of the commentary is about Season 4. Nothing we haven't heard already, but still interesting nonetheless.

All in all, I'd say that the Freakin' Sweet collection is a must-see for all Family Guy fans. I'm not exactly sure if it's worth $19.95, so I'd recommend renting it from Netflix (where I got my copy) or Blockbuster or some rental place.
